Design

The team at LSW looked to the natural world for inspiration when it came to designing a fresh new home for Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. Through a mixture of earthy tones and textures, the building’s new program has a warm, inviting atmosphere that aims to ease tensions during visits, while delivering a best-in-class care facility.

The completed program includes surgery rooms, standard exam and X-Ray rooms, a laboratory, oncology treatment area, an isolation ward, and a morgue. In addition, there is an open treatment area for informal check-ups or consultations, when appropriate.

The lobby includes comfortable lounge-like seating areas organized around a gas fireplace. The flooring is a combination of carpet in the offices and conference rooms, sheet vinyl in the surgery suites, and stained, polished concrete throughout the rest of the office. The CT and X-ray rooms have leaded gypsum wallboard walls to protect staff and people in the vicinity.
