Davidson Insurance’s new office is located in the Esther Short Building, in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Encompassing 3,475 sq ft, the space creates a collaborative working environment for their employees through a mixture of open workstations and enclosed offices. A reception and waiting area, small and large conference rooms, and a staff break area finish out the company’s work areas.
Almost the entire perimeter of the building is made up of floor to ceiling glazing, and Davidson chose to capitalize upon this by placing their open work areas adjacent to the glass with the enclosed offices closer to the interior of the building. This allows the majority of the employees to enjoy the exterior views of the waterfront and the natural lighting. Other employee spaces include a break area that doubles as a strategizing and meeting space with a floor to ceiling writeable wall covering.
The interior colors and finishes were chosen to create a warm and professional work environment. One distinct aspect of the office’s design is an etched glass mural located in the reception and waiting area. The mural was salvaged from the Esther Short Building prior to construction and relocated to Davidson’s office. It provides a unique focal point in the waiting area and a translucent separation between the reception area and large conference room. Consistent with the company’s commitment to high quality service, the reception area contains a hospitality center that holds refreshments for their clients.
