LSW worked with AHA! to expand their existing offices in downtown Vancouver to include 3,400 sq ft of new space for open workstations, private offices, a conference room, kitchenette, kitchen serving area, and print area.  As a creative writing firm, their existing office and expanded space evoke a light, dynamic atmosphere using wood, glass, and brightly-colored accents.

Enclosed spaces were reserved for the center of the building, allowing the majority of employees to benefit from the abundant natural daylight on the perimeter.  As part of this core, a smooth-textured wall framed by bookshelves was constructed as a “graffiti wall” – a place for employees to post their thoughts, sketches, and ideas.  It will serve as a semi-permanent record until painted over when the wall is full.

The existing kitchen was remodeled to include new appliances and a 14-foot long glass shelf for storage of glassware and dishes.  Adjacent to the reception area, a new serving counter fabricated from a single piece of walnut was left with a “live edge”, providing a unique focal point. The counter will be used for business luncheons, office meetings and other gatherings.
