The new facility for Seton Catholic College Preparatory High School is 10 years in the making. Beginning in 2007 with a community planning symposium, the end result is a 40,000 sq ft facility that includes eight general classrooms, two STEM classrooms, a large chapel/drama room, a gym with capacity for 600, a weight room, locker rooms and a large commons space. As designed, the school will accommodate 250 students. Future phases are planned for an addition that will accommodate another 100 students, as well as turf athletic fields and a track.
The majority of the building is constructed using precast tilt-up concrete panels. Various textures are utilized to provide definition along the building façade. The shape and appearance of the exterior walls highlight the chapel as a focal point. The use of wood and other warm materials welcomes visitors the building.
School identity was a major consideration in choosing the interior color palette. Dark blue and golden yellow are present throughout the interior in the flooring and wall colors. The school logo appears throughout the building, as an inlay in the commons floor and painted on the wall in various locations. A prominent donor wall is located near the main entry to thank those who contributed to the project through fundraising and other donations.
