LSW is all about working within the community and helping it grow and flourish. It comes as no surprise that LSW partnered again with Share in their “Give-more 24” campaign. Share, a local Vancouver non-profit whose mission is to give the homeless the tools they need to succeed, annually puts on a competition called the “Share Stack Smackdown”. This community event is where groups volunteer in putting together a structure made entirely out of cans. Through involvement of local voting with dollars a winner is determined, and all proceeds and cans raised go to Share to assist those in need.
LSW put together an impressive 9 ft Structure in the office made from over 2,000 cans. Volunteers internally spent hours of their time opening boxes of cans, handing cans, jamming to tunes, stacking cans, braving heights, tossing cans, taping cans, and assembling this large “Vancouver” Sculpture. Through teamwork, camaraderie and late hours into the night, they got it finished on a tight deadline… and celebrated through a mini pizza party! The sculpture was based on a rendering of a 30 ft welcome sculpture LSW designed that is envisioned to be built in front of I-5 as you enter Vancouver. Two-thousand cans = lots of mouths that are going to be fed! Share was so excited to see such positive results from everyone’s involvement …and LSW was announced the winner! It shows what good “can” be done when willing and able minds unite!
